About us

For many years our Crime Patrol have been helping to keep the Pohutukawa Coast a clean, tidy and safer place to live with volunteers drawn from the communities in which we live. We work in partnership with various agencies to achieve our goals. Our volunteers help prevent crime by carrying out patrols in marked vehicles and act in a non-confrontational manner as the eyes and ears for the New Zealand Police, observe and report on issues that require Auckland Council Services as well as supporting local community events such as the local Trolley Derby and the Beachlands Santa Parade. We patrol the community in pairs, either by day or night and note such things as suspicious behaviour or activity alongside graffiti or illegally dumped rubbish.

Show your support

We’re fueled by community support. Your contributions, whether through donations or volunteering, are the lifeblood of our mission. In our commitment to keeping neighbourhoods safe, every bit of support matters. Join us in building a stronger, safer community together.

Community Engagement

We work closely with the Police in support of reducing crime in the communities we serve making them a safer place for all.  We have been instrumental in introducing a network of ANPR cameras in the areas that we patrol to further support our goals. We attend the monthly Community Partners Meeting led by the Police along with other community organisations from the Counties Manukau East area.

Our Patrollers are involved and assist in community activities such as the annual Trolley Derby organised by the local Rotary Club and the Beachlands Santa Parade. We are also active in the Safer Plates programme.

Patrollers are non-confrontational, and we have no special powers therefore are subject to the same rules and regulations as everyone else.

Volunteer & Support

We are always looking for volunteers with a genuine interest in our community to join our team. We foster and promote equality, diversity and inclusion in our team that reflects the community in which we live and welcome anyone aged 18 or over to join our patrol. In return for your commitment to patrol a minimum of 2 hours twice a month our commitment to you is to provide both initial and ongoing training that will ensure you are well equipped to carry out this important community role. We offer morning, afternoon and evening rosters to fit around your work and other commitments.

All applicants are subject to Police vetting and reference checks.
