About us

Patrollers are the community’s watchful eyes—dedicated individuals committed to enhancing safety. We are a team of volunteers who believe that every helping hand can make a difference.

Building safer communities together

Manukau District Crime Watch Patrols Charitable Trust (MDCWP) was formed in 2007. MDCWP has a service agreement with Auckland Council and we are very grateful to them. We are a group of 6 patrols working together to create a safer community. The member patrols are Botany, Howick/Pakuranga, Mangere Bridge, Manurewa, Papatoetoe, Pohutukawa Coast. These patrols have been operating in their respective communities for over 20 years working towards keeping our community safe.

All members are vetted by the New Zealand Police and fully trained to become effective patrollers in their communities.

What’s Involved

Our trained and vetted patrollers conduct regular shifts, offering a non-confrontational presence. From providing advice on bag safety to assisting in special operations, they contribute significantly to keeping your community safe.

How can I help?

If you have a caring attitude towards your community and a few hours to spare regularly, consider joining our patrol team. Whether it’s weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, your involvement will contribute to maintaining Manukau as a great place to live and work. Fill out our contact form to learn more and become part of our community watch.

Application and Vetting Process

If you wish to contribute to this vital service for your local community, please apply to join a local patrol. One of our team members will then be in touch to finalise your application. All volunteers must be vetted by the New Zealand Police.
